What We Love: Dragon Fruit

We get it: kale is good for you, coconut is good for you.

Don't get us wrong, we love anything with kale & coconut in it. But there's a new kid in town and we're guessing that this winter, Dragon Fruit is going to be taking the spotlight because we are all craving warm weather with a tropical feel. Anyone else instantly think of the "Land Before Time..." movies the first time you saw a dragon fruit? Ok, I'm aging myself. These may look PREHISTORIC but fit for a super babely-dinosaur. 

Dragon Fruit is not only gorgeous (and totally 'grammable) with it's bright magenta exterior and white fleshy interior speckled with black seeds, but it is also loaded with goodies to get your body feeling bomb.com. We're talking low-calorie for a guilt-free treat, fiber to keep your poops regular, B vitamins for carbohydrate metabolism, calcium, protein, carotene, iron, phosphorous... The list goes on. The aspect that surprised us the most was that these babies are also a very good source of omega-3 and omega-6 fats! 

It might look intense, but it is actually a cinch to deal with (unlike those pesky coconuts that require a hammer, screwdriver, and an ambulance on standby). All you have to do is slice it lengthwise and then either scoop out the fruit or peel back the pink flesh! TIP: don't try the flesh, it's icky. The fruit though? YAS.
