DIY: Coconut Matcha Face Mask
WARNING: You might scare your roommate/partner/neighbors
If this was high school, coconut oil would be the popular kid that everyone loves. It's cool, it's smart, it's versatile and it's jam packed with goodness. I personally love to cook with it; some of my favorite forms of consumption are when it's thrown into a peanut butter and almond milk protein smoothie, in cocoa spirulina energy balls, or when I'm stir-frying veggies! Plus, the smell of coconut screams vacation. Another perk.
But did you know it also makes the EASIEST and most AMAZING face mask when mixed with matcha powder? This mask is literally as easy as 1-2-3. We filmed a great segment for E! Canada with Graydon Moffat awhile back and she shared this fool-proof, yet potent conconction with us.
- 1 dallop of Coconut Oil
- 1 small spoonful of Matcha powder
- Splash of boiling water
Not only do you look like Hulk's other half, but this green goop that smells like a beach vacation is also packed with goodness so that you can put your best face forward. Let's break it down:
MATCHA: You know how everyone raves that green tea is great for you? That's almost entirely thanks to the vibrant green matcha component. Its' antioxidant levels are 60x higher than spinach! Imagine if popeye had consumed matcha instead of spinach? Shiiiiiiit. Not to mention it is in high in vitamins and minerals such as selenium, vitamin C, zinc and magnesium. If you drink 1 cup of matcha tea, you'll also get the added benefits of increased metabolism and a boost in energy!
COCONUT OIL: This succulent oil promotes healthy, moisturized skin and acts as a medium for the skin to properly absorb the vitamins and minerals present in the matcha powder. Plus, it has anti-viral and anti-bacterial properties! Bye bye pimples!
SIDE NOTE: No one will judge you if you accidentally try a little lick...
The flavours of fall could set you back on your fitness goals.
