WCW: KHLOE KARDASHIAN’S NEW BODY IS THE BEST KIND OF REVENGE
If you’ve ever gone through a breakup or know those who have, one of you have probably thought of working on your body right after. It could have been to get revenge on your ex or a way to distract yourself and help you move on. Well that’s exactly what our first WCW did.
Khloe Kardashian has been working on her body for a while but it wasn’t until recent years after going through a rough time with her now ex-husband Lamar Odom and the media that she found refuge in the gym. After losing around 40 pounds, she now works out at least three days a week because it keeps her sane. In an interview with E! News, she admitted she never intentionally wanted to get a ‘revenge body.’ Instead, her body was a byproduct of her trying to de-stress.
Since diving into fitness, Khloe has posed for magazines such as Women’s Health and Shape Magazine and wrote a book about the relationship between mind, heart and body called Strong Looks Better Naked. Her latest fitness venture is her new show called Revenge Body with Khloe Kardashian, premiering Jan. 12, where she helps transform other people’s lives just as she did hers.
Khloe, along with her sister Kourtney Kardashian, posts many of their workouts with trainer Don, on Snapchat. Some of her favourite workouts include banded 4x4 walks, crunches, mountain climbers, lunges and high knees. And the best part of it all? These can all be done at home. At the gym, she loves using the elliptical, stair climber and of course, the treadmill. Aside from hitting the gym 3-4 times a week, she always makes sure to drink water, and eat the right food before and after her workouts. Khloe keeps a dairy-free diet and stays away from sweets. But sometimes, she will sneak in a pepperoni pizza to treat herself.
Khloe has shown the world that she does not just want to be known as the “fat sister” and her diet and workout plan has been a motivation for many. And for this reason, she is our WCW for Healthy is Hot!
Although summer may seem miles away, I thought I would get you a little excited about those hot days by introducing you to sailing. Now I am not talking about the captain’s hat and booze cruising sailing, I am talking about the physically demanding, mentally challenging, Olympic class sailing.
Sailing seems to have been in my life for as long as I can remember. My dad is a sailor, and a pretty great one at that. I am pretty thankful that he chucked me in a boat at a young age, and although I may have lost my favourite pink flamingo hat one my first outing, I soon fell in love with it and it has become part of my identity.
The sailing community in Canada is so close knit, and I was lucky enough to cross paths with Sarah Douglas a few years back when I was working in Toronto as the head coach at a sailing club there. At the time she was on the Ontario Sailing Team and I have been so excited to see her progress and be a total inspiration to young sailors across the country.
I was able to steal some time in her very busy schedule to get some questions in, and I hope you enjoy virtually meeting Sarah!

If there is anything that I have struggled with lately, it’s turning off my mind when it’s time to go to sleep. Does anyone else have this same problem? It feels like all day there is an energy deficit, and I am so sleepy… but of course, night hits, and all of a sudden I am wide-awake.
This affects me the next day in a few ways. Not only do I find it difficult to wake up, but I also hit a wall as soon as I get home from work where I feel the need to sleep right away. I have experienced this type of insomnia before during times of stress, and it’s easy to feel like this is out of my control.
As a chiropractor and fitness coach, I often ask patients and clients the following questions - Do you wake up the day after a workout feeling stiff and sore? Is your desk job a (literal) pain in the neck? Are you getting headaches after an upper body workout or a long day at work? If the answer is yes, there are many factors to consider – sleep, stress, hydration, nutrition, ergonomics and self-care, to name a few. One of them may be recurrent or chronic tension. If that’s the case, which for most people is at least part of the reason, it might be time to consider foam rolling as part of your daily routine. Your body will thank you!

You know the phrase “winner winner chicken dinner”? Well, it repeats in my mind whenever I cook this dish because everyone I have made it for loves it. Plus the recipe is so simple. Delicious + easy = a win in my book!
I typically make this dish for my husband and I as a post-workout meal during the week. It’s also a great option if you’re having friends over for dinner because you prep it the night before, leaving you free to socialize with your guests (because who wants to be cooped up in the kitchen the entire night?). And clean up is a breeze because it’s just one pan. I wasn’t kidding when I said this was such a win!

A big hello from the windy (yes, very windy) city of Chicago. My boyfriend’s celebrating a birthday and was craving an adventure where we could dip out to without travelling too far that had a cool art scene, great food, and cool architecture... We found decent flights and impulsively jumped on them. We were hoping to stay in the stunning Chicago Athletics Association Hotel but for whatever reason the prices doubled on the Monday and Tuesday night which got us wondering: do we spend more on a hotel and sacrifice the level of activities we’d be doing, or vice versa? Nice hotels are great (obviously), but we love going to museums, comedy shows, yummy restaurants and bars with elevated cocktails - so, it was an easy decision. We’d forego staying in a top notch hotel and find something more affordable so we could do all the things.
I know I’m late to the game on this one, but I’m obsessed with podcasts. Friends have been telling me for the last couple of years to check them out and for one reason or another, it took me until last fall to actually download the app and dive in. Now that I have, I’m officially a podcast junkie, and listen to them constantly. Driving to work? Podcast. Taking transit downtown? Podcast. Making dinner? Podcast. You get the picture.
