Wellness in the City: Power Breakfast

Busy and on-the-go and need a breakfast that is healthy, nutritional and easy to make? Want a recipe to help you have a healthy breakfast to start off your day right? Try overnight oats!

I LOVE overnight oats, they are so easy to make and I love the fact that I am able to prepare my breakfast the night before without mulling around my kitchen in the morning trying to figure out what I should eat for breakfast.

There are so many great health benefits to overnight oats. Oats are rich in antioxidants, can lower your cholesterol and manage blood sugar levels. Almond milk is rich in Vitamin D & E and vegan friendly. Cinnamon is filled with antioxidants, can lower blood sugar levels and has anti-inflammatory properties. Here’s a simple and easy recipe to create a perfect overnight oats, power breakfast.


Overnight Oats

1 cup of milk or almond milk

1 cups of Large Flake Oats (not instant oats)

1 tsp of vanilla

A dash of cinnamon

1 tablespoon of honey


Combine all ingredients in a mason jar or a sealed container and stir and place in the fridge overnight. The next morning, add your choice of fruit (i.e. mango, strawberries, banana, blueberries etc).


Overnight oats can be eaten cold or warmed - enjoy!
