Beating Those Post-Vacation Work Out Blues
Okay, has this ever happened to you? You work out hard for that beach bod for that tropical vacation (P.S. the beach outfits don’t give you much of a choice). You have a clear goal in mind: make your body look great in the sand-water-and-sun scenery. Fast forward to the end of your vacation. You look and feel amazing, so what a waste it would be to give up working out now. But as that vacation glow fades, it can be difficult to find the motivation to get back to the gym. So how do you overcome the post-vacation workout crisis? Here are a few ways to kick that butt into gear and get you back on track!
Get organized with your workouts
Write down how many days you plan to exercise the first week you get back- but remember to start slowly! After taking that long break from your regular workouts, it’s okay to start off with a less-intense workout than you usually do.
Meal Prepping Time
Create a meal plan for the week. Make a list of what you need from the grocery store. Go to the store as soon as you can - your fridge is probably screaming at you to give it some love because you’ve been away. Doing it ASAP will reduce the ever-so-tempting takeout option.
Revisit your goals to motivate
So, you accomplished what you wanted for the vacation, but remember that healthy living is a lifestyle! What kind of short-term goals were you looking to achieve before the vacation? Are there any goals you want to work on for the upcoming year? Write those down, and use those to motivate you when you need a little push.
But always remember to give yourself a break
The fact is, we are all human and we all deserve a break. Vacations are a time for us to relax from our day to day life, but when we come back it can be hard to get back into a routine! It’s all about listening to your own body. Meaning, if you want to go for a walk instead of that one-hour muscle mix class - that’s OKAY! Just get out and move the way you want, and you’ll kick those post-vacation blues to the curb!
