KITCHEN VIRGINS: Spicy Roasted Chickpeas

Whether you live savoury snacks or sweet snacks, you can make something healthy with a can or two of chickpeas. One of my first #KitchenVirgin recipe reviews was Chickpea Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies. Now, it’s time to test something out with a kick  - Spicy Roasted Chickpeas.

You’ll need the following:

- 2 cans of chickpeas (drain and rinse)

- 2 tablespoons of olive oil

- 1 teaspoon of ground cumin

- 1 teaspoon of chilli powder

- 1/2 a teaspoon of cayenne pepper

- 1/2 a teaspoon of salt

First, set your oven at 400, grab a large bowl and start creating. Toss the chickpeas with the rest of the ingredients. If you’re not into spice, you can leave it out and try just salt or even something sweet - the possibilities are endless. Once the chickpeas have been tossed, you’re going to lay them out on a baking sheet and throw them in the oven for 30-40 minutes. I find closer to 40 minutes get them nice and crunchy.

These beauties are a perfect alternative for chips. I love them if I get the late-night munchies or if I need some mid-day fuel. I usually throw some in a ziplock bag and keep them in my purse when I have to run errands.

This recipe is as easy as they come and tastes hella fine so I’m going to give it a 10/10 rating.

If you test it out or play around with other flavoured roasted chickpeas, let me know and tag me @saverinatv using #HIHMoment and #KitchenVirgins.

Until next time!
