New Year’s Reset Smoothie


Getting back into the swing of things in the new year is never fun, everyone is tired, sick and coming off of a major sugar high. To help me bounce back from the mountains of cookies I’ve consumed over the last month and bikini body ready in 3 weeks (gasp) I’ve started following the Fab Four principles set by Kelly Leveque. Her clientele base spans among some of Hollywood’s healthiest babes (think Jessica Alba and that amazing glowing skin). Her anti-diet, diet has helped me rethink my meals and what I’m putting on my plate. Rather than starve myself on some juice cleanse that will make me crave more cookies, I’ve adopted her Fab Four principles, focusing my meals around fat, fiber, protein and greens. Below is a recipe for a Fab Four approved smoothie, with some of my own modifications for some extra detoxing using spirulina… bye bye pimples! This recipe helps get me to lunch without sugary breakfast foods and helps me avoid my constant craving for bacon. Rest Smoothie Recipe

  • 1-2 handfuls of spinach

  • 1 cup of almond milk

  • 1 tbsp of flax oil or chia seeds

  • 1 scoop vegan protein powder (vanilla or chocolate flavoured depending on your taste preference)

  • 1 tbsp of almond butter (the good stuff – should have a layer of oil at the top)

  • 1 tsp of spirulina

  • Handful of ice

  • Half a banana, fresh or frozen (optional) 

Combine all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
