The Top 3 Things I Learned During My Body Transformation


Hey there, fit babes!

For those who may not know me, I’m Larissa Nicole - a Personal Trainer, soon-to-be Registered Holistic Nutritionist, Writer/Blogger and F45 Trainer - and over the past 8 years, I’ve lost over 60lbs, built a whole lotta muscle and have overcome traumas related to cardiovascular health, bullying, and body dysmorphia.

Although I still consider myself to be a “work in progress”, I now try my absolute best to use my transformation story as a way to teach other women struggling with their weight how to become a stronger, healthier & happier version of themselves and that absolutely anything is possible with the right mindset.

That said, it took a lot of work to get where I am now.

But, if I could go back and tell my younger self THREE things to make the journey a little easier and clearer, it would be this:

1. Real, Lifelong Change Takes TIME

In a fast-paced world where everyone is looking for the shortest way to a certain destination - whether it’s weight loss, muscle growth, etc - it’s so important to remember to be patient throughout the process and PUT IN THE REAL WORK for the things that are truly worth it. Because, at the end of the day, that same time will pass regardless. You really can't spend your time worrying about how much time it’ll take to achieve a certain goal when it’ll take that amount of time anyway - whether you started today, or in a month from now. Ultimately, we all have two choices: we can either start today and eventually reach that goal of becoming stronger, healthier and happier, or we can be exactly where we are, right now, wishing we had started all along.

2. Consistency Over Perfection

Living a truly balanced and sustainable lifestyle is more about what you do CONSISTENTLY over months and years, versus what you do PERFECTLY right now. So, don't worry too much about falling off the wagon, eating an unhealthy meal, or skipping a workout. As long as you get back up every single time you fall, you will always, ALWAYS win. Just make sure you are making MORE positive, healthy choices than negative, unhealthy choices and they will eventually add up in the long run.

3. Love Your Body At ANY Stage

This is probably the toughest, but most important lesson I’ve learned throughout my own weight loss. No matter where you are in your fitness journey - whether you're still struggling to pick up that initial momentum, or finally starting to see those small changes you've been working so hard to achieve - love your body through it ALL. Through all the pain, sweat and tears. Through the good days and the bad. It might be difficult at first, but you have to actively find ways to love your body a little more - whether it’s through the strength gains you make, or the way it looks in your favourite sweater. Support it, be kind to it. You'll find the journey becomes a lot easier when you have a better relationship with yourself and your body.

These three lessons have transformed the way I navigate my own journey toward achieving ANY fitness & health goal.
