Meet Hannah Kovacs. Many may know her from her popular Toronto class, HIIT with Hannah! She is a ball of energy and today we’re learning a bit more about her! We sit down with her to discuss everything from what inspired her to start HIIT with Hannah to her upcoming ventures (hint hint, owning her own studio may or may not be in the works).

Q: It's your average day- take us through your morning routine!

A: Half of the week I'm up at 5:30am to teach class, the other half of the week I'm up between 7-8am! My morning routine changes based on the day, but usually it starts with making my bed, sorting through emails, checking my calendar/to-do list for the day ...with a fresh cup of french press coffee of course! When I'm not at the studio, I usually work from home or set up at a cafe with a work buddy. I'm happy as a homebody.

Q: What inspired you to start HIIT With Hannah?

HWH came to be very organically! I missed being part of a team as I was used to from my soccer days, so I got my certification while working full time at a tech start up. I began teaching community classes through Lulu Lemon and they became affectionately known as 'HIIT with Hannah'. From there, the community grew into something really special.

Q: What's your favourite way to get your sweat on?

A: Probably playing soccer - always has, always will be. But otherwise my routine is incredibly dynamic. Some days I'm doing hot yoga or Pilates, somedays it's HIIT, strength training or an outdoor run. I am constantly changing it up! Keeps me on my toes.

Q: Tell us how you got started with Fit Radio!

A: I was (and still am) a FitRadio user for years - they have the best music and I use it to power all of my classes. I reached out to them explaining my story and vision to create digital workouts. Over the last year and a half I worked with them as they built out the functionality in their app. Nearly 2 years later, you can do HIIT with Hannah workouts right in the FitRadio app!

Q: What are some of your go-to studios/classes to go to in Toronto?

A: I love the Strength & Conditioning classes at Philosophy Fitness - they push me to new heights! I also love the hot classes at Union Yoga & Wellness and Wellness. And anything Alena (@training2xl) teaches (i.e. Power Hour @ BOLO or her class at The Attic).

Q: Do you have a favourite quote or mantra that you carry throughout your days?

A: Work hard in silence, let your success be your noise.

Q: How do you like to unwind after a busy week?

A: Cooking! It's like therapy. I shut off my brain and get lost in recipes. I'm a huge foodie and love feeding my people an ideal Friday is cooking a big dinner, sipping wine and relaxing with friends, brother and fiance.

Q: What's your bedtime routine look like?

A: The one thing that's always constant: skin care. Over the last few years I've built quite the skin care regime. I take off my make up (if I'm wearing any) with a cleansing wipe. Then I use Buffet (multi-peptide serum) from The Ordinary + glow booster from Hylamide. Then I moisturize using either Rose Hip oil or a moisturizer from The Ordinary. I know it sounds high maintenance but I've never been happier with how my skin has looked. I love watching a Netflix show if I have time! I try and stay off my phone right before bed ...but it doesn't often happen. I'm either planning my class for the next day or answering emails. I need to get better at shutting down earlier!

Q: What's your next venture we can look forward to in the health/fitness world?

A:  I've been keeping it under wraps, but I'm in the process of opening my own fitness studio called MOVE EAST in Halifax! I'll be sharing more about this soon :)

Q: What does Healthy is Hot mean to you?

A: 'Being healthy' means something different to everyone, and I think it's important to acknowledge that. The idea behind 'healthy is hot' speaks to the whole 'do what feels good for you' mindset. Health is wealth. We only get one body, so you're better off to treat the one you have well! Striving for a healthy mind and body can certainly help us feel good in the skin we're in.
