How I Get Sh*t Done: Allison Arruda

Meet Allison Arruda, better known as @InspireandMove on Instagram! She’s an F45 coach out in Burlington and this week on HIGSD we learn all about her morning routine and the inspiration behind her Instagram name!


Q: It’s your average day- tell us what your morning routine looks like? 

A: Average day starts anywhere between 5:15am-7am depending on the day, as much as I would love to be routine with a daily wake up time, it depends on my coaching schedule for the week.

I start my morning with a room temperature lemon water, followed by a glass or bottle of regular room temperature water. I like to workout in the mornings, so will typically train (or coach) on an empty stomach and refuel with breakfast or a light snack after my workouts- my go to snacks are a small handful of nuts (brazil nuts, walnuts, almonds) or a Usana protein bar. Then I will have my beloved coffee! Some mornings we make coffee at home and other days we hit our favourite local coffee shop (shout out to Tamp Coffee Co downtown Burlington!) for an oat milk latte- seriously delicious!

My morning routine is pretty simple as I don’t wear make up for my workouts or when I coach- my lash extensions are my life saver for making me look fresh faced and I pair that with a natural, nude lip gloss.

Breakfast is typically a loaded shake with protein (Usana or Tone It Up are my go to protein brands), flax or chia seeds, collagen, moon juice, 1/2 frozen banana or frozen berries, greens and most likely some nut butter! I always like to be prepared with ample snacks for the day as well as my own lunch. 

I take all my supplements with my shake, snuggle our two dogs, grab my gym bag + laptop and head off for the day!

Since transitioning from corporate to fitness full time, I have been able to cut my commute time in half. I used to commute to Vaughan with my husband for 40 minutes - an hour and now commute between 4 minutes and 20 minutes depending on my gym location.

In terms of work locations I either work from my home office (my husband surprised me with a decor office makeover this past Christmas!) or favourite coffee shops.

Q: What inspired you to become an F45 coach?

A: I started working out at F45 Burlington as soon as it opened and quickly fell in love with the brand, energy and workouts! I then had an opportunity to become an ambassador for the studio that quickly evolved into becoming a Coach once I got my personal training certification. The community at that studio is fantastic and I love the energy that comes alive in the room during the 45 minute workout.

Q: Tell us what 'inspire and move' means to you?

A: Inspire + Move was actually created by my husband- he gets all the credit for the name! I wanted to create a brand that inspired people to live their healthiest and best life through fitness, nutrition and mindfulness. Inspire + Move was born as a platform that could envelop all of my passions from fitness to mental health and something that could grow.


Q: What's your favourite way to get your sweat on?

A: Favourite way to sweat is a variety of F45 anywhere from 3-6 times per week, boxing, hot yoga, workouts with my trainer or Pilates/barre. I typically train 6 times a week and always like to keep a variety of workouts in the mix each week. Now that the weather is getting nicer I will add in outdoor running as well as swimming.

Q: What are some of your go-to studios/classes to go to in Burlington?

A: My go to studios in Burlington are F45, Be Yoga + Wellness, 7th Wave Yoga and the Gym on Pearl (no classes but a beautiful boutique gym to train at). 

Q: Do you have a favourite quote or mantra that you carry throughout your days?

A: I can’t say I have a favourite quote or mantra that I live by (though I like this idea!) but I really try to live a life of happiness, joy and positivity. And that you only live once- so to take care of your body + mind and express gratitude for this beautiful thing called life! 

Q: How do you like to unwind after a busy week?

A: There are a few ‘go to’ ways I like to unwind! In no particular order….. snuggle up on the couch with my dogs and a coffee and read my book with no interruptions. I love a good Epsom salt bath with candles, a face mask and a glass of kombucha. I love taking our dogs for a long walk downtown with my husband and get a coffee. I also love to just sit and talk with my husband with a glass of wine- it’s so important to have that time together to just connect amidst busy lifestyles!


Q: What’s your bedtime routine look like? 

A: My bedtime routine is pretty sacred… I’ll take two calcium magnesium supplements before heading up to bed. My skincare routine consists of a gentle milk face cleanser, followed by a toner, serum, eye cream and then a night cream, all products by Celavive (so clean, all natural + amazing!). About once a week I will do the overnight jet lag mask from Summer Fridays. I like to add in eye or face sheet masks in once a week as well- typically in a bath!

I have a small obsession with brushing my teeth so will floss and brush my teeth either before or after my face ritual.

Then I enjoy a cup of Yogi Restful Sleep tea in bed while I read my book for 15-20 minutes. Some nights I take a natural melatonin supplement if I have too much running through my mind- always helps me to have a good, solid sleep.

Q: What's your next venture we can look forward to in the health/fitness world?

A: No major ventures at the moment but I would love to own a gym or studio of my/our own! One of my favourite things to do is bring people together, so if there was a way to combine my love and passion for health + fitness AND bring people together in one amazing space, I’d feel very, very fulfilled and think that would be totally awesome. Something to throw out to the Universe…!!

Q: What does Healthy is Hot mean to you?

A: To me, Healthy is Hot means it’s sexy and beautiful to be a woman who is passionate about her health. Caring about your health is so much more than working out, it’s also about how you nourish your body + mind, what energy do you surround yourself with and how you practice mindful  living to enjoy a long happy and healthy life. I love that this is something that women (and men!) are thinking about now more than ever and that there are so many empowering women out there that are making big, magical things happen!
